Making Affordable Computers Available
PCs for People refurbishes desktop and laptop computers for distribution to eligible recipients. As a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher, we are able to provide computers with licensed copies of Windows 10. We also have more economical machines that include Linux or LibreOffice. Every desktop includes a mouse, a keyboard, power cords and monitor cords at no additional cost. Monitors, accessories, hardware upgrades and additional software (such as licensed Microsoft Office) are available for an additional fee. Computers are available for a donation from our stores or can be purchased online at www.pcsrefurbished.com.
ARE YOU ELIGIBLE?
To receive technology from PCs for People a potential recipient must be below the 200% poverty level or be currently enrolled in an income-based government assistance program. You can read more about eligibility and about the documentation required by clicking here.
Nonprofits are also eligible recipients of technology and can learn more here.
The EBB program allows participating internet service providers to offer customers devices priced between $10 and $50. As part of the PCs for People device distribution partnership, customers of Airband Partners will pay $20 for the desktop and $49.99 for the laptop.
The devices are refurbished computers with the Windows 10 operating system and Microsoft Office. A one-year warranty is included.
Processing customer computer orders
Customers will order computers directly from PCs for People via a private portal. Their access to the portal will be based on a list partners send to PCs for People after qualifying customers for EBB. PCs for People will collect the discounted cost for the device from the customer at the time the order is placed.
Paying for devices and reimbursement
PCs for people will invoice partners for orders placed by customers. Partners will use the information to seek reimbursement from the FCC to pay PCs for People.
