Cancer
Studies for Determined People
Environmental Initiators and
Promoters
In
1978, Israel banned many industrial chemicals such as DDT and PCB (found in increased
concentration in malignant breast tissue). In the next decade there was a 30% drop in
breast cancer mortality in women under 40 years old. World wide the mortality rate from
breast cancer rose 4% during that same decade. Westin, J. and Richter, E.
"Israeli Breast Cancer Anomaly." Annals of the New York Academy of Science 609
(1990):269-279.
Pesticides
used to control pests in the home have been implicated in the development of cancer. These
include No-pest strips, termite pesticides, home pesticide bombs, and flea collars. For
instance, No-pest strips emit continuous vapors of DDVP, a highly carcinogenic chemical. "No-Pest
Strip Insecticide Poses Unacceptably High Risk of Cancer in People and Pets". Journal
of Pesticide Reform Spring (1988):29.
In
1987 a study found that children living near power lines had five times the risk of
developing all kinds of cancer. Another study revealed that ordinary household appliances
generate larger electromagnetic fields than do power lines and that many people sit closer
than the sixteen foot drop-off of the fields. Ezzel, C. "Power line static.
Debates Rage Over the Possible hazards of Electromagnetic
Fields." Science News 140(Sep. 1991): 202-203.
Quote:
Mercury is a known carcinogen, yet
the "silver" fillings in your teeth are 50% mercury and only 25% silver. Joyal
Taylor, D.D.S., president of the Environmental Dental Association felt that this is
especially harmful, "as mercury acts as a carcinogen, and can impair immune
function". Quoted in Alternative Medicine: The Definitive Guide,Compiled by the
Burton Goldberg Group, Future Medicine Publishing, Inc., Fife Washington, pg. 84.(note:
also reported in this volume: Germany has prohibited the use of mercury fillings since
1992. Sweden will pay 50% of the cost of removing mercury fillings. Mercury has been
designated by the EPA in the United States to be a waste disposal hazard).
