Bouvs currently Available for Adoption in Southern California

There are two main sources of rescued Bouvier available for adoption in southern California. One is SCBDFC's rescue program, and that information is on their website. The other is my friend Kareen Carruthers, who is an independant Rescuer, using part of her boarding kennel to house rescued dogs. Because it is impossible for me to keep current with dogs in foster care with these two programs, you must phone or e-mail as indicated below. Be sure to contact both of them.
As they come to my attention , I will also list Bouviers rescued and fostered by other organizations and individuals. I also have a few stories of dogs already adopted.

Perenial sources of rescued Bouviers

There are two main sources of rescued Bouvier available for adoption in Southern California. I urge those potential adopters who live in Southern California to check with both these sources before considering looking in Northern California. Those of you in Northern California who aren't finding the dog you seek up here, please do consider that the drive to the greater L.A. area takes only a day, and the supply of adoptable Bouvs is larger there than it is here.

I find that it is really impossible for me to keep this page current with dogs in foster care in Southern California. But at any given time, each of the sources below usually has one to sevral really nice foster Bouviers waiting for loving and responsible homes. Please phone or e-mail as indicated below for current information. Be sure to contact both sources, as they don't always update each other currently.

as of 6/07/07 the club has two Bouvs in foster care but adoptions are pending on both

Bouviers Available from other rescue groups or individuals

http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=4773952 Listed as a Giant Schnauzer but looks to me more likely to be a Bouvier, described by the site as follows : "9 years old - Henry was discarded at the Bakersfield Shelter - he was one hour away from death when we rescued him. Henry is probably a Giant Schnauzer who is a little tubby man... well maybe a big tubby man. But he is so scrunchy lovable, that you just don't care. Henry is ready to go to a new home and he better go soon, because we love him so much, we may decide to keep him. Gunner is an 8-month purebred Bouvier des Flandres. He is neutered, has all vaccinations, is microchipped, and has a good temperament. He was rescued by and is being fostered by Rottweiler Rescue of Los Angeles, which can be reached by e-mail at grandmadoggy@aol.com. UPDATE (4/27/06) Gunther was ADOPTED about a week ago by a very experienced Bouvier person.

(March 2006) SADIE, almost certainly a Bouvier, spayed bitch, 3 years old. Sadie is being offered for placement by her owner. A netfriend called my attention to her listing at http://www.hugadog.com/amrt/index.html , which is as follows, unfortunately without a phone number. I e-miled the owner asking for more details but (as of a few days later) have not received a response. The photo shows a very nice looking fawn / buff Bouvier. (Yeah, it could be a Wheaten, but the size owner indicates is too large to be a Wheaten.) If you are interested please try contacting the owner Jennifer by e-mail. 3/10 - My dog Sadie needs a new home. I'm a 3 year old English Sheepdog/Wolfhound mix spayed female. Sweet and caring. Loves hugs and cuddling. House broken and well behaved. UPDATE : Sadie dissappeared off of the hugadog page , so it is likely she got adopted. One can only hope that she got a responsible and knowledgeable home.
MERV : senior Bouv with wonderful temperament. (11/6/05) This sweet loving older guy was seized as a Cruelty (Neglect) case by his local animal control and then taken into care by Woods Humane Society in San Luis Obispo in Southern Calif. He is a very affectioate dog with a bombproof temperament. See Merv's page on my site.UPDATE : Merv was rescued and ADOPTED and is cherished by a member of the Southern Calif Bouv club, who has found him to be very grateful for kindness and comfort, as most older dogs are.

KIPPY : 1 year old male Bouvier puppy, rescued by Pnia.

LUTHER : 2 1/2 year old male Bouvier, rescued by Pnia. UPDATE : Luther was soon adopted by a loving home.
